ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Jordan Smith is drafted in the ninth round by the Cleveland Indians. Today he heads to Goodyear, Arizona to start Spring training with the Cleveland Indians.
Smith might be the first St. Cloud Husky to turn Cleveland Indian, but he may not be the only. The Cleveland Indians have set their eyes on another Husky.
Last season he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the forty-ninth round. He didn’t sign because he was only a sophomore and wanted more college ball under his belt.
Brian Hansen is hoping to be drafted again in this years upcoming draft for his junior year.
“Usually when guys get drafted in the forty/fiftieth round don’t sign unless their junior or seniors and Brian was a red shirt sophomore draft eligible,” head coach Pat Dolan said.
Last season the university’s baseball team hosted the NCAA Central Regional Tournament making them the number one seed. This season has been going pretty well and on March nineteenth you can catch them at the metrodome. This season’s draft is anticipated.
